During the successful young leader camp which recently happened the young leaders expressed interest in getting back together and holding another camp and international camp was suggested and we met with positive feedback. In light of this the district team have decided to offer the young leaders the opportunity to participate in an international camp we plan to run an eight day trip to Kandersteg in Switzerland next year. The Kandersteg site is an International recognised Scout centre known around the world for its stunning views and adventures programme ( Their website is http://www.kisc.ch/ ) In order to progress with the planning of this we need to determine how many young leaders would like to attend and participate on this journey . We understand that events like this do not come cheap and we are planning to support all young leaders as much as we can, enabling then to all participle. With event of this type we are unable to provide an exact cost at this time as the more young people that attend the lower the cost can be however we are expecting this to in the region of £300. We understand that this is a large amount and we will be offering a payment plan to help spread the cost over the coming year as well as support fundraising to help reduce the costs. We do not want anyone to miss out on this opportunity so if you would like your child to go and you feel this may be a struggle please contact Steve on Phone/email (our District Commissioner) or Di Smith (Wolsey DESC) on Phone/email to see how we can assist. The camp will be 23rd August 2019 – 31st August 2019 , but we will be running some get to know each other events prior to the main event so that young people can help shape their camp, these events will be covered in the total cost. This event will be a truly unique event which will remain with the young people for many years to come. If you would like your child to attend or have any queries please respond to this email or call Steve on 07789867161 wolseydc@gmail.com to allow planning to progress we are setting a deadline of the 10th October for people to register interest. Young Leaders are a vital, and often underappreciated, part of the leadership. We decided to run a camp for the Young Leaders in Wolsey District in order to thank them for all the hard work they do, and the sacrifices they make, as well as to give them the opportunity to experience the wider world of scouting outside of their group, meeting fellow Young Leaders from throughout the District. As this was their camp it was only right that they shaped it. Five Young Leaders gathered around the meeting table at the 36thIpswich. Shannon, a YL at the 36th, had expressed an interest in catering, and had created a camp menu which she brought along. A few tweaks to adapt to our cooking facilities and we had a menu. As for activities, I brought up a list of everything Hallowtree had to offer, and a discussion was had. In the end we decided on Crate Stacking, Laser tag, an activity provided to Hallowtree by the Wolsey Cub Council, and a walk along the Orwell on Sunday morning.  - Go online for the full report ...
